Yeah, but who actually builds it?
Often (far more often than I’d like), I’m asked this question.
My Answer: “I do. I’m a contractor.”
To be more accurate, I hire a team of stellar professionals to work with me to create and accomplish amazing things.
I assemble the Dream Team, and we all do what we are born to do.
My supplier, subcontractor, and equipment teams are the best in the business (or at least they are my favorite to work with and they do an outstanding job).
I choose the teams for Two Island Design Build remodeling projects based on our core values (link in the comments), because people who align with those core values working together to plan and execute a project … that’s what makes sparks fly! ✨
That’s the Dream Team.
My background is in Architectural Design. I’ve been professionally designing and planning home remodeling projects for almost 24 years. Basically everyone I know professionally, knows me as a Designer.
Yeah, but who actually builds it?
I do. I’m a contractor.
Yeah, but where’s the Project Manager?
I am. I am The Contractor.
I’m not sure whether most people know that I contract & manage every single Two Island Design Build jobsite. I spend a give-and-take amount of time between design (and all the other business stuff) and on the actual jobsite.
I place all the orders. I meet every worker on site before they start, and throughout their work. I inspect for quality and code compliance. I meet with the inspectors. I do a some demolition here, and a little punch list there. I make sure each phase of the build is complete and correct. I prepare the jobsite before each trade enters for a new phase. I install site protection. A lot of site protection. I do most of the cleaning. A lot of cleaning.
(The award for cleanest jobsite under construction goes to… 😉)
I own more tools than people think. I use those tools.
Yeah, but who actually builds it?
I genuinely try not to get a chip on my shoulder about it, since that would take energy and focus away from my goals and the many, many, so many tasks.
But I guess I thought it would be worth mentioning…
I’m a Building Contractor, licensed in the state of MN.
BC793827 … That’s my license number.
